Note: Special education deals with children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities. These children and young people are supported in their education with special measures (from birth to the age of 20). They have the right to special education and support from specialists in early special education, curative education, speech therapy or psychomotor therapy. Special needs education also deals with children and young people who have demonstrable difficulties in social skills, learning or performance. The cantons are responsible for the education of children and young people with special educational needs.
